Polar Bear cubs are born in late autumn or early winter and spend the first 3-4 months in a den being fed on their mother's milk. This milk is the fattiest of any land animals at 31%. The fat content gets lower as the cub grows. They are nursed up until two years of age. Only 50% of cubs survive the first year. They can be found in the northernmost reaches of Canada, Russia, the United States (in Alaska), Norway, and Greenland.
